This website is derived from a research on the magazine Neue Grafik/New Graphic Design/Graphisme actuel. Its main purpose is sharing particular information collected through the research from three points of view: editing, layout design and distribution.
Neue Grafik was an international magazine of graphic design published from 1958 to 1965. It was created by an editorial group of Swiss graphic designers/artists consisting of Richard Paul Lohse, Hans Neuburg, Josef Müller-Brockmann and Carlo Vivarelli. The magazine played a crucial role in developing the graphic design movement which is called “Swiss Typography” or “International style,” and since then has had a significant influence on visual communication and design around the world. In all eighteen issues of Neue Grafik, the four editors focused on constructive design at that time and published more than one hundred and thirty articles on graphic design work, theory, history, education, exhibition, photography etc.
本サイトは、20世紀後半にスイスで発行されたデザイン誌『Neue Grafik』(ノイエ・グラフィック／ノイエ・グラーフィク) の調査に基づくアーカイブである。本誌の調査などを通じて得られた情報を一般に公開し、グラフィックデザイン関連分野の今後の研究や議論の一助となることを目的とする。
雑誌『Neue Grafik』は、1958–65年に発行されたグラフィックデザインに関する国際的評論誌。スイスのグラフィックデザイナー／美術家であるリチャード・パウル・ローゼ、ハンス・ノイブルク、ヨゼフ・ミューラー=ブロックマン、カルロ・ヴィヴァレリの4人によって制作された。本誌は、「スイス・タイポグラフィ」「インターナショナル・スタイル」などと呼ばれるグラフィックデザインの国際的な潮流に大きく寄与し、それ以降も世界各地で影響を与えている。編集同人の4人は、本誌全18号において、当時の構成的デザインに焦点を当て、デザインワーク、理論、歴史、教育、展示、写真などに関する130本以上の記事を掲載した。
